COVID-19: Pastor Ize-Iyamu thank God for reemergence of Obaseki in public

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, frontline aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state, has expressed relief and gratitude that speculations on the health of the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, were laid to rest Wednesday, when he delivered a public address and provided needed assurance to the people in the fight against COVID-19.

For days now, there have been multiple reports and heightened concern on the status of the governor following his prolonged self-isolation after feared exposure to COVID-19 in Abuja where, in the line of duty, he had close contact with other government officials who tested positive.

However, in a broadcast, the governor allayed fears and recounted some of the measures of the state government in curtailing the spread of the virus in the state and protecting the residents.

Reacting to this in an interview, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu thanked God for the development, stating that it is relieving for the people to see their leader “at a time like this”.

He said: “We thank God that we saw the Governor making a broadcast on Wednesday. There have been a lot of speculations and people were worried because they needed to see more of him at a time like this. We thank God that he is well and we were able to see him talking to our people.”
