The Inner Addict

Everyone is an addict to some degree, the consequences of what’s used are just more devastating for some. Selfishness is what makes the addict reach and it’s in everyone to some degree…

There’s only one person who you have to be honest with and that’s yourself. You may do something that no one sees you doing, but you’re not fooling anyone because you can’t hide what you’re doing from yourself. You don’t get away with anything that you do in life. You may be ignorant as to why it’s being done, but that doesn’t lessen the consequences. There are consequences for every action, but it’s not because God is watching and causes it, you yourself cause your consequences and they‘re determined by the base of what your actions are; either love or selfishness.

The reaching to fulfill your inner addict is repeated because the things used keeps the addict in place. Alcohol, tobacco, porn, gambling, drugs, food, sex, sports, money, and social status to name of few, are all used to fulfill the selfish inner addict and therefore they will need to be reached for over and over because it’s the nature of addiction. Why the thing being reached for used doesn’t matter is because whatever and whenever something is reached for to fulfill the addiction, it will not last. It can’t last because the nature of anything reached for is selfish, and selfish behavior is the producer of addiction. The inner addict is also the cause of so much suffering to ourselves and others. Until this is realized the addict will always be there and so will the need to reach for something to try and satisfy your inner addict…
