Here's the problem with Success!

You have probably seen this person. Somewhere at the TAB , footy or local pub.

The sort that only talks about which wager he won not the time he lost everything bar - the clothes on his back.

Truth is there's no pointing sugar coating things.

And as much as we like to see victories it's more important to reflect on our losses.

Why ?

Because this is where personal growth start to kick in.

And there's no substitute for that. Any wise Entrepreneur will tell you they experienced some hard lessons along the way- essential in building character.

So if you are looking for the quick fix.

Maybe this gig isn't for you. Takes a lot of balls , hard work , and perseverance to make it in the business world.

For more than 2 years I've had to walk on some pretty hot coals and been rejected on a number of occasions.

By clients and Employers.

But the fact that I'm still hustling means I haven't been defeated.

So encourage everyone in my network to stay strong , be committed , and focused to reach your goals everyday.

You see Success is Sexy.

But getting there ain't.

Remarkable Success Story + Bamboo Tree

Have you heard of the Bamboo Story.

The story goes like this......

You take a little seed. You plant it, you water it , you fertilise it.

After a whole year nothing happens.

The second year you water it and fertilize it, and nothing happens. 

The third year you water it and fertilize it, and still nothing happens. How discouraging this becomes! 

By this stage you haven’t even seen a twig , bud , or anything.

Certainly by now it would be much easier to have given up. But somewhere deep down inside a little voice tells you to keep nurturing the plant.

It's well into the fifth year now and you still continue to keep watering and fertilising the seed without giving up.

But lo and behold after the fifth year, the Chinese bamboo tree sprouts and grows NINETY FEET IN SIX WEEKS! 

Life is very much like the growing process of the Chinese bamboo tree.

Quite often life is discouraging. And when it seems all is lost we become overcome with fear which leads to that one dreaded word “Give up”.

Worse still.... it  becomes more disheartening when you do everything right and watch others succeed with less talent or knowledge.

The true sign of resilience is to look beyond where you are now.

And keep growing your crop.

Whether it's 1 ...  2 ... years or 3 years down the track

Simple fact.... we all like different results with the same effort but TRUE success takes hard work & great attention to detail.

Why am I recounting the Bamboo story?

Because it's taken me about 2 years to see just tiny results from my efforts.

There were times I couldn't visualise any progress. But I kept going.

I know it's not easy.

But deep down inside I believe you too can achieve the same.

And when you do enough of it everyday rewards will await you.

1% at a time.

Till suddenly........ 

you sprout up like a Bamboo TREE!

What about you? Do you struggle in this important activity?

It’s true , Rome wasn’t built in a day so, at least here me out.

This is my cure to your writing dilemma ....

Truth is ….don’t get caught in that fear of “what to write trap” because that’s one way to weaken your writing mojo.

Funny enough.

Surprisingly even an old timer...  like me can show you how to unleash your creative power.

Believe it or not... the answer lies in a bunch of nerves that are located somewhere between

the Medullla Oblongata and Mesencephalon.

Psychologists refer to this sensation as our RAS = RETICULAR ACTIVATING SYSTEM

It’s main function is to filter out what you’re hearing and what’s in your subconscious mind.

Similar to how a secretary filters out the nuisance phone calls to prevent the Company Executive from getting interrupted.

It goes without saying that we are all consumers by nature.

For instance.

You want to buy a luxury car and research everything about it online.

The next day you might  be driving on the way to work and that same car you were looking for starts appearing just everywhere.

You see those cars would have been there anyway.

It’s your RAS that hones in on that vehicle.

So how does this relate to Marketing , especially writing blogs ?

Well basically if you want to get good at this skill just like me you need a trigger point.

A couple of years ago I decided to get good at email Marketing.

So I began to start listening to other Marketing Guru’s podcasts so I could learn to master this skill.

Basically all you have to do is start with an idea and  every time you’d be randomly doing an activity like

Chatting to a friend

be driving, or doing the gardening

And all of a sudden ideas will just start popping into your head.

So yep no need to struggle writing content anymore my padawan …..  as all the answers lie in your RAS.

How often do you read food labels?

I Bet if you are anything like me , not very often.

Going to the supermarket should be an easy task.

Truth is….  it’s easy to get misled by the seductive appeal of the packaging.

Maybe it’s the price that will get you

And what about those claims?

Product A is low on Salt but high in fat or Vice Versa.

Their job is to get your attention.

The fact that you have stopped to have a look at that jar , packet , or carton means you are hook , line and sinker.

Give yourself credit though. Being mislead isn’t a sign of weakness.

At least you made a choice...

Unravelling Perfection

You can have your ducks lined up. Hoping everything will go to plan. It will make our life and business more easier if everything worked out. More often though most Entrepreneurs are in turmoil when they hit a dead end. This is the tug of war that plays out in our mind. The tighter we hang on to our perfectionist ideals the more we lose traction. And lose sight of the road ahead. Nothing is ever perfect. or needs to be. Knowing is the not the same as understanding!

If it’s ok with you I dare explain the difference.

So here goes.

You can have knowledge about a particular business skill or anything else for that matter.

But understanding is where the rubber hits the road.

Case in point…. Everyone knows that Facebook Advertising is a powerful medium.

But understanding tells,you  are waay… better off paying an expert to do the Marketing for you.

Why?

Because logically you are never going to do it as effectively as they are.

Obviously its natural to want to save moolah doing it yourself .

Truth is …. you still have to be mindful to pick the right one.

That’s where research comes into play.

Kinda reminds me of Copywriting too.

There is as much research involved than actually writing, and coming up with the BIG IDEA.

After all, just because you think you can.

Doesn’t mean you can.
