Agitated Expectations

Agitated expectations are noticed when things aren’t as they are wanted, but even when things are in your favor, the expectant mind still has agitations because of the way it clings…

Let go and be free or hold on and suffer, those are the choices. Expect things a certain way and when they aren’t in that way the next step in the process is to react to the results of the agitated expectations. When there’s expectations there’s agitations and when you cling to those agitations it’s because of clinging; this is the development of an agitated mind. The more you cling the more there’s agitated expectations. Even if your expectations work out the way you think they’re suppose to, there’s still agitations, but they’re not noticed as a problem because the situation is as wanted. The agitated mind clings to everything that’s labeled, and it labels everything so there’s clinging to everything, but it’s not noticed because the focus is what’s wanted.

Life is one continuous expectation, but it’s only in the disappointing agitated ones that you think the mind clings to; most are unaware of this moment by moment clinging process. When the mind quiets enough to understand this, the labeling process of everything as this or that lessens and so do the agitated expectations. This results in a mind that is free, and without these agitated expectations it’s just about impossible to suffer…
