Human Attachment

Not only is it human to err, but it’s also strictly from the attachment to being human that the moment is wanted different which causes your own suffering…

If you really want to know what the basic flaw seems to be that keeps a person attached to their own suffering, it’s holding on to being human to a fault. It’s not that you aren’t human or that you’ll be able to transcend being human, it’s more so to find a way to embrace it, but not attach to it. It will always be succumbing to the human side in some way that causes suffering. Being human doesn’t have to be attached to, but it will take discipline and a settled mind to see this. It’s always human to want things different and it’s always attaching to the story of being human that causes suffering. This is true regardless of the circumstances. The human side wants something different, attaches, and is pulled into suffering.

The other day I ordered clothing on line and when it was were delivered I tried it on and it didn’t fit. By my first reaction you would have thought I was going to have to walk around naked, but that wasn’t the case. I attached to the clothing not fitting and didn’t accept the fact that it simply didn’t fit. This is what attaching to being human does and when I saw how childish this was, wanting thing different fell away and I was able to simply send the clothing back. You can substitute the clothing with anything and you’ll get the same created childish result of suffering. This is all because not only is it human to err, but it’s also strictly from being human that one attaches to wanting things different which in turn causes you to create your own suffering…
